Just as artificial intelligence relies on data, authentic learning is grounded in books. Books have been central to learning since the printing press. The following selection of texts offers foundational perspectives and insights that proved invaluable in our work and understanding of AI. A curated list below provides further context and resources for learners interested in further scholarship.

This list explores a curated selection of books that have profoundly influenced my understanding of artificial intelligence and the skills needed to effectively interact with it. Many of these works, while not explicitly about AI, offer crucial frameworks for critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and understanding the complex interplay between technology and society. They provide valuable tools for navigating the ethical and societal implications of AI, fostering responsible development, and ensuring that AI serves humanity.

To understand, learn, and explore how an AI ‘thinks’, it is helpful to understand, learn, and explore how we think and to have a frame of reference for the existing mental models. This collection of books by Shane Parrish served as an invaluable resource for exploring diverse thought patterns across various disciplines, including art, science, mathematics, and logic.

Given Aristotle's deep interest in understanding the essence of things, their purposes, and the ethical dimensions of their use, it's easy to imagine how he might approach and evaluate an AI's ability to define its nature, ethical principles, means, purpose, and function; how it acquires knowledge; and how it can enhance human lives.
