Asseverate Intelligence

Asseverate means to assert something without regard to its validity. An Asseverate Intelligence describes AI systems capable of producing highly persuasive content, often regardless of its factual accuracy. These systems can generate compelling narratives, manipulate emotions, and shape public opinion. While this technology offers numerous benefits, it also presents significant risks. An AI can create highly persuasive text, and its persuasiveness can be further improved with human curation. For large actors, as AI becomes increasingly sophisticated, it can be used to create sustained, multifaceted campaigns of disinformation on a massive scale. For example, AI-powered bots can disseminate false information on social media, polarizing public discourse and undermining democratic processes. Moreover, deepfakes, hyper-realistic AI-generated videos and audio, can be used to spread disinformation and deceive the public. This can erode trust in institutions, polarize societies, and undermine democratic processes.

To mitigate these risks, it's crucial to develop critical thinking skills and media literacy. Individuals should be cautious of information, especially when it comes from automated sources. Ironically, AI can assist in combating misinformation — fact-checking, cross-referencing, and evaluating the credibility of information sources.
